At Smart, our mission is to transform retirement, savings and financial wellbeing, across all generations, around the world.
The Role
As a Mobile Engineer, you’ll be at the forefront of building and scaling cross-platform apps with React Native and Expo. Our projects are deeply rooted in the FinTech space, with a strong focus on the pensions and savings industry. You’ll contribute to apps that help people manage their financial futures, engage with their retirement savings, and make better-informed financial decisions — creating real impact in users’ lives. You’ll join a collaborative, cross-functional team made up of UX designers, frontend and backend engineers, QA specialists, and product managers. We work in an agile environment where knowledge-sharing and pair programming are encouraged, and where your input will directly shape our mobile architecture and feature delivery. We place a strong emphasis on learning and development:
- Hands-on experience with the latest Expo SDKs and React Native ecosystem tools
- Opportunities to explore native modules and integrations when Expo or React Native requires extensions
- Work with mobile animations, transitions, and interactive design patterns to enhance user experience
- Exposure to greenfield technologies and new frameworks in the mobile and FinTech space
- Access to internal workshops and tech talks
- Dedicated time for personal growth — whether deepening your expertise in React Native, expanding into backend or DevOps, or growing toward technical leadership
If you’re passionate about building high-quality mobile experiences and want to grow within a supportive team that values innovation, this role will give you the platform to do just that.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain mobile apps with React Native + Expo across multiple clients
- Shape the architecture and technical decisions of our apps
- Improve CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows (Expo builds, OTA updates)

- Collaborate with UX, FE, and BE teams in a cross-functional environment
- Share knowledge and drive excellence across our mobile community
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR
The skills, experience, and aptitudes we are looking for are listed below but please don’t be discouraged from applying if you don’t meet every single one of these criteria – having a ‘can do’ attitude is sometimes more important than being able to tick every box:
- Proven React Native + Expo and TypeScript experience
- Hands-on with the latest Expo SDK and ecosystem
- Experience delivering apps through the full SDLC to app stores
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Passionate about mobile quality, performance, animations, and user experience
